1945 (film & discussion) March 8 at 7pm
Saratoga Jewish Community Arts with a grant from Jewish Federation of NENY presents the film 1945…
A remote Hungarian town in August 1945 notes the arrival of two Orthodox Jews. Why are they there? Paranoia runs rampant. While there have been many films about the Holocaust, there are few about the immediate aftermath when greed and material gain from the Jewish people’s demise was pervasive. Director Ference Torok captures this often overlooked moment in history where one town’s actions become a metaphor for the moral decay of the whole country.
Discussion and Desert reception follow the film.
