Dr. King Celebration Weekend: Jan. 13 – 16

Temple Sinai has been an active member and participant in the MLK Saratoga organization’s weekend events for many many years. We encourage members of Temple Sinai to visit MLK Saratoga’s website and see a complete listing of all of the events that will be happening, including ways to get involved on the Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 16.

“TAKE NOTE!” A Children’s Book & Musical Instrument Drive. Mon. 1/16, 10am-1pm. It’s time to take a look in those attics, closets, bookshelves, and other household nooks and crannies to seek out those buried book and instrument treasures, because on MLK Day, we will have our children’s book and musical instrument drive! There are two new organizations that we’re partnering with this year.

Vanguard is the volunteer support group for the Albany Symphony, and their Instruments for Students program, collects gently-used band/orchestra instruments for capital-area schools, so all children can have access to music programs, regardless of their ability to afford rental fees.

Stories for Success is an organization created and run by Saratoga High School students! (One of our own confirmation students brought this great group to our attention!) Their mission is to help new parents and babies through the power of reading, through providing the family of every baby born at Saratoga Hospital with a “book bag” and literacy materials. We’ll also again be donating books to SEEN, Saratoga Equity in Education Network, which has 3 Little Libraries in Saratoga that need to stay filled!
