SJCA: Leona (zoom discussion)

The Saratoga Jewish Community Arts, with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of NENY and sponsored by Temple Sinai, presents a Zoom discussion of the film Leona. While this is a work of fiction it presents a situation based on actual events. A young woman becomes romantically involved. His background is very different from hers. Her people, Mizrahi, arrived in Mexico in the early 20th century from Syria escaping persecution, racism and civil war. This is a story about the concerns of assimilation of Jewish people to the new society they live, who risk leaving behind their religion and traditions
